The Greatest Top 20 Songs of All Time
Some people believe that the listing of the top 20 songs ever cannot go beyond the 1990s. They feel that even though there have been top hits after the 1990s and they have been very popular, they simply cannot compete with some of the greatest songs that were sung in the 1990s and before that. That is the reason why we have people listing the top songs per decade. For instance, there may be a listing of the top 20 songs today (this could include the current top 20 songs of 2000s or even in the current year) or the top 20 songs of the 1990s.
To an extent, this is a right exercise because the top 20 songs today are completely different from those of the earlier years. Our taste in music has changed drastically over the years. This can be attributed to the change in the socio-political structure and also the change in the way we think. Songs reflect society and have been produced as per the scenario of the time.
What we did is that we researched some of what we believed the greatest songs ever sung. We went through the background of the song, the socio-political scenario at the time when the song was produced and the amount of influence it could generate on the masses. Looking at all this and more, we listed what we believe are the top 20 songs ever.
Just sit back, listen and enjoy what we think are the top 20 songs ever. You may want to debate and discuss on the addition or omission of some of the songs. It has been observed that the beauty of the tunes captivate listeners of all age. Many of these top 20 songs have been adopted and translated in several languages and in their new versions they have become hits. Let the debate rest in peace and just have a fantastic time listening to these generation barrier breaking songs.
